On Tuesday, 23. October, Pastor Micah Greiner and volunteer members from his congregation and the greater Chicago area visited the LTS after spending some time in Middelburg, South Africa with Pastor Mandla Khumalo and his congregation, St Peter Confessional Lutheran Church. There is a long-standing relationship between Pastor Khumalo’s congregation and the church served by Pastor Greiner, St. Peter Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, Chicago, IL, USA. The congregation from Arlington Heights has partnered in ministry with the South Africans for over 25 years. Pastor Khumalo is also the long-standing head of the Confessional Lutheran Church of South Africa. Pastor Greiner graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO, USA and has served at St. Peter since 2007. His personal friendship with a number of FELSISA pastors, which is another link to the Lutheran church in South Africa, dates back to their days studying together at the Lutherische Theologische Hochschule in Oberursel, Germany. The recent visit by the Americans helped refresh and cement the long-standing relationship. On their way back to the USA, the visitors stopped by the LTS to get a personal tour and to introduce themselves to Rector Winterle.
